For almost two years, life had been upside down or at a standstill – COVID-19 had a major impact on the lives of people in all parts of the world. Faith and hope could help people get through this difficult time of loneliness, isolation, and fear for the future. The (non-)importance of religious faith of African people in the context of the COVID-19 crisis is what we wanted to focus on in this conference. Beyond that, COVID-19 had also greatly changed and limited the religious life in Africa. How exactly this looked like in individual African countries and which impact this had was also one subject of this conference.

Alumni gave short presentations of 15 minutes in the following panels:

  • The Growing Importance of Religion in Times of COVID-19
  • The Influence of COVID-19 in Everyday Religious Life
  • Spirituality, Prayer and Healing in Times of the COVID-19
